Sexual & Vaginal Health

Sexual health is part of health. Concerns about comfort, desire, vaginal or vulvar symptoms, and intimacy deserve the same thoughtful care as any other medical concern.

Pain With Sex

Pain may have hormonal, pelvic-floor, vulvar, vaginal, infectious, gynecologic, or other causes. Identifying the pattern is the first step toward useful treatment.

Vaginal Dryness & Menopause Changes

Lower estrogen around menopause can contribute to dryness, burning, irritation, urinary symptoms, and discomfort with sex. Both hormonal and nonhormonal options may help.

Libido & Sexual Function

Desire can be influenced by hormones, medications, sleep, stress, relationship factors, pain, mood, and health conditions. The goal is to understand the whole picture without judgment.

Vulvar Symptoms

Persistent itching, burning, skin changes, sores, or irritation deserve evaluation rather than repeated self-treatment without a diagnosis.

Vaginal Infections & Discharge

Changes in discharge, odor, itching, or irritation can have different causes. Testing when appropriate helps distinguish common infections, sexually transmitted infections, and noninfectious conditions.

STI Screening & Prevention

Women First provides confidential discussion, screening, testing, treatment, prevention counseling, and vaccination guidance based on individual risk and needs.

Common Questions

What Patients Often Want to Know

Is it okay to bring up sexual concerns at a gynecology visit?

Absolutely. Sexual comfort and function are legitimate health concerns and are appropriate to discuss with your gynecologist.

Is vaginal dryness only a menopause issue?

No. Hormonal changes, breastfeeding, medications, skin conditions, and other factors can also contribute.

Should I self-treat every episode as a yeast infection?

Not necessarily. Several conditions can cause similar symptoms, so recurrent or persistent symptoms are worth evaluating.

Individualized Care, Clear Guidance

Symptoms can have more than one cause, and the right evaluation or treatment depends on your history, examination, goals, and preferences. Dr. Allison Alexander works with patients to understand what is happening and choose an appropriate next step together.
